In an announcement made through an internal mail within the channel, NDTV said that the resignation was effective immediately. A day earlier on Tuesday, the new NDTV board approved the resignations of Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy as directors of RRPR Holding Private Ltd (RRPR), the promoter group vehicle of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV). The list includes grooming guidelines for both male and female staff as the Tata-owned airline attempts to end its ‘Chalta Hai’ work culture, news agency ANI reported. In its 40-page circular, Air India laid down uniform and appearance rules that all crew members must follow. The instructions include guidelines on hairstyle, jewellery, nails and appropriate uniforms. For male crew,  Air India  mandated the use of hair gel, while female crew members were forbidden from streaking or colouring their hair blonde. “Male crew members with deep receding hairlines and male balding patches must keep a clean shaved head or bald look,” said Air India. “The Head must be shaved daily.   Govt tells telcos not to install 5G base stations within 2.1 km from airports The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sent a letter to telecom providers Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone not to install C-band 5G base stations within the 2.1 km range of Indian airports with immediate effect, as C-Band 5G can create problems with the aircraft’s radio (radar) altimeters, which they rely on during takeoff and landing, and to help avoid crashing into mountains. The DoT letter, seen by IANS, said that the telecom service providers (TSPs) are advised that “in the area 2,100 meters from both ends of runway and 910 meters from centre line of runway of Indian Airports shall have no 5G/ IMT base stations in the 3,300-3,670 MHz”. “The base station, nodal or repeater installed in the periphery of 540 metres surrounding the area, the maximum power must be limited to 58 dBm/ MHz in 3,300-3,670 MHz range,” the letter said.   Karnataka Waqf board to start colleges, schools that permit hijab The Karnataka Waqf board will soon start schools and colleges where students will be allowed to wear the hijab, unlike several government educational institutions in Karnataka. According to Waqf board chairman Shafi Sadi, the schools and colleges will be self-funded and will be set up at Mangaluru, Shivmogga, Hassan, Kodagu, Bijapur and Hubballi. “A total of Rs 25 crore have been allotted for the educational institutions. There would be no autonomous rules for these colleges and follow the board and universities’ rules,” Sadi said.   Tata Group to merge its airlines- Vistara and Air India by March 2024 Singapore Airlines  on Tuesday announces the merger of Vistara and Air India by March 2024. Tata group owns a 51 per cent stake in Vistara, and the remaining 49 per cent shareholding is with Singapore Airlines (SIA). As part of the transaction, SIA will also invest Rs 2,058.5 crore in Air India.  "This would give SIA a 25.1 per cent stake in an enlarged Air India group with a significant presence in all key market segments. SIA and Tata aim to complete the merger by March 2024, subject to regulatory approvals," SIA said in a release.   UPI apps may soon impose a transaction limit: What it means? The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) may soon implement its proposed December 31 deadline to limit the volume cap for third-party UPI app providers (TPAP), reported ANI. This means that people in India will lose the ability to make unlimited transactions via PhonePe, Google Pay and other UPI applications. UPI platforms such as  PhonePe  and Google Pay are currently dominating the market with approx 80 percent share. In order to avoid the monopoly of any UPI app, NPCI has sent a proposal of a 30 percent volume cap in November 2022, which the organisation wants the RBI to approve. At the moment, there is no transaction cap on any UPI based application like Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay.   Travellers without full name on Indian passports barred from flying to UAE Indians travelling to the UAE are required to have their full names on their passport to be allowed entry to the Gulf nation, as per new rules that came into effect on Monday. This means that both first and last names need to be clearly declared. A circular sent by IndiGo to travel agents on Monday states, “As per instructions from the UAE Authorities, effective 21st November 2022, passengers with a single name on their passports travelling on tourist, visit or any other type of visa shall not be allowed to travel to/from UAE.” Passengers travelling to the UAE on residential or employment visas are, however, exempted from the rule. “However, passengers with a single name on passports and in possession of a residence permit or employment visa shall be allowed to travel provided the same name is updated in the “First Name” and “Surname” columns,” the statement by Indigo airlines added. source:  indianex...
